Fertilizers placed on the market in accordance with national regulations and used in France. Fertilizers placed on the market in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 and used in France are not covered.

The notified interministerial order amends two orders by setting a timetable for reducing the maximum permissible cadmium content in certain fertilizers and growing media, and the maximum permissible amounts of cadmium when using fertilizers.

It applies to fertilizers and growing media placed on the market and used under the conditions provided for in Articles L. 255-2 to L. 255-4 and paragraphs 1, 3 and 5 of Article L. 255-5.

It does not apply to fertilizers and growing media placed on the market and used under the conditions set out in paragraph 2 of Article L. 255-5, which concerns fertilizers that comply with Regulation (EU) 2019/1009.

The two amended orders are:

·        The order establishing the assessment procedures and values for the safety and end-of-waste criteria for fertilizers and growing media; and

·        The order establishing the maximum acceptable amounts of trace metal elements and trace organic compounds when using fertilizers.
