The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by personal face and eye protectors, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting human health and safety and preventing deceptive practices.
It applies to the following products:
1. Personal eye protectors (protective goggles);
2. Personal eye and face protectors (goggles and masks used in welding, cutting and similar processes);
3. Personal mesh eye and face protectors.
It does not apply to:
1. Full face masks for use as respiratory protective equipment;
2. Personal protectors for nuclear radiation, X-rays, laser beams and infrared radiation (IR) emitted from low temperature sources;
3. Sunglasses for general use or "fashion" shows, which are primarily used for wardrobes or costumes.
