The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by clean water pumps and motor pumps using single-phase squirrel-cage induction motors, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting the environment and preventing deceptive practices.

It applies to the following products:

Rotodynamic clean water pumps and motor pumps (centrifugal and mixed flow pumps) using single-phase squirrel-cage induction motors, with a power rating of 0.187 kW (1/4 HP) to 0.746 kW (1 HP).

It does not apply to:

·         Pumps for ornamental fountains;

·         Fire pumps;

·         Hydromassage pumps;

·         Jet (injector) pumps;

·         Multi-stage pumps;

·         Pumps for solids handling (surface or submersible);

·         Sprinkler pumps;

·         Bilge pumps; 

·         Swimming pool pumps.
