The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by voice and data cables, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting human safety and preventing deceptive practices.

It applies to the following products:

1.         Co-axial cables;

2.         Lead-in telephone cables, telephone cables for outdoor installations, and crossover telephone cables;

3.         Outdoor telephone cables;

4.         Twisted pair cables (UTP, STP, FTP, S-FTP).

The notified Technical Regulation does not apply to:

1.         Voice and data cables manufactured specifically for oil or mining installations, or for permanent or mobile offshore installations; 

2.         Short co-axial cables (all types) fitted with connectors.
