The notified draft Resolution consolidates the requirements established in various Resolutions amending Resolution No. 3333 of 2007 and establishes new phytosanitary requirements for the importation into Chile of seeds of ornamental species of any origin.

Pest Risk Analyses (PRAs) have been conducted for the following species: Ammi visnaga, Anemanthele lessoniana, Ipomoea imperialis, Isolepis cernua, Bupleurum rotundifolium, Calibrachoa spp., Melinis nerviglumis, Miscanthus x giganteus (M. sacchariflorus x M. sinensis) and Panax quinquefolius, enabling the establishment of the corresponding phytosanitary requirements.

The SAG has considered allowing exporting countries to declare pest status, under regulations applicable to all origins, in accordance with the guidelines of ISPM No. 8, "Determination of pest status in an area", through the additional declaration: "The pest(s) is/are not present in the country of origin", provided that the country of origin maintains supporting information and pest records on which the determination of pest-free status is based, which may be requested by the SAG.

For entry into the country, consignments of seeds of ornamental species of any origin must be accompanied by an official phytosanitary certificate issued by an NPPO, bearing the additional declarations established in the draft Resolution.
