This measure establishes phytosanitary requirements for the importation of cereal seeds, as follows:

1.    Phytosanitary requirements that must be included in the official phytosanitary certificate, the additional declarations that the certificate must contain according to species, and the types of treatments accepted;

2.    Other phytosanitary requirements, such as that the shipment must be free of soil and plant remains, and requirements for packaging and its labelling or marking;

3.    Seeds must comply with the requirements of Decree Law No. 1.764 of 1977, which sets standards for research, production and trade in seeds, and its Regulations, and with the regulations for the control of plant species considered to be weeds, in shipments of seeds of any species or origin entering the country;

4.    For materials modified genetically by modern biotechnology, the importer must declare their genetic status and comply with SAG regulations establishing requirements for their importation and release into the environment;

5.    Germplasms and samples must be subject to the same requirements as commercial consignments. Exceptionally, special conditions for the importation of these materials may be considered and at the express request of the interested parties;

6.    Inspection carried out by SAG at the point of entry to ensure physical and documentary compliance with the phytosanitary requirements established for the imported shipment and actions in the event of detection of listed pests or non-listed pests that are potentially quarantine pests;

7.    The phytosanitary requirements for the importation of seeds of the following species: Triticum monococcum L. and Hordeum chilense, shall enter into force upon publication of this Resolution in the Official Journal; 

8.    The phytosanitary requirements for the importation of seeds of species covered by this Resolution, not listed in Resolve No. 9, shall enter into force three months after publication in the Official Journal.
