The notified protocol establishes the certification procedure for fixed or portable socket-outlets for a.c. only, with or without earthing contact, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V and a rated current not exceeding 10 A and 16 A, intended for household and similar purposes, either indoors or outdoors, incorporating USB charging points.

Exceptions:

The following products are excluded from the scope of the present protocol:

- External power supplies for mobile telephones, computers and tablets that fall within the scope of protocols PE No. 8/8:2016 and PE No. 8/10:2020.

- Fixed or portable socket-outlets without a USB port that fall within the scope of protocol PE 44 No. 3/04.

- USB port/receptacle modules that are marketed separately. - USB ports of electronic devices.
