The notified Standard establishes the classification and description of floor and step grating used for industrial floors, steps, platforms, gangways, drainage channels, etc.

It establishes geometrical and dimensional requirements and tolerances for grating for flooring and steps.

It also establishes the mechanical, chemical composition and dimensional requirements to be met by carbon steel bars (primary material) used to manufacture grating for flooring and steps. It furthermore contains calculation tables for the design of such products.

The notified Standard establishes the requirements for the volume calculation, manufacture and delivery of grating for flooring and steps. It does not apply to grating steps made from materials other than steel and carbon, or manufactured using different manufacturing methods, such as pressure-locked and/or riveted grating
