This Draft East African Standard specifies the requirements, sampling, and test methods for carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks (ready to drink).

This standard does not apply to products for which other standards apply such as:

1.    waters (including packaged water, flavoured drinking water and packaged natural mineral waters).

2.    fruit drinks.

3.    fruit juices, pulp, puree, and nectars.

4.    vegetable juices and nectars.

5.    herbal juices (ready to drink and concentrates); and

6.    cereal based beverages.
