The notified draft Joint Resolution, prepared by the National Food Commission (CONAL), amends Article 578 in order to clarify the sales description of certain categories of milk drinks and, in particular, of drinks containing added fermented milk, which gives the end product distinctive characteristics, yet does not lead to its classification as a fermented milk drink. In the same vein, those products classed as milk drinks that contain fermented drinks as ingredients and that subsequently undergo heat treatment may not display the name of the fermented drink on the label.
