Control of milk yield

ROYAL DECREE / OF REGULATING THE CONTROL OF MILK YIELD FOR GENETIC EVALUATION IN BOVINE, OVINE AND CAPRINE SPECIES, ESTABLISHING THE REGULATORY BASES FOR SUBSIDIES FOR THE CONTROL OF MILK YIELD AND AMENDING SEVERAL ROYAL DECREES ON LIVESTOCK BREEDS

The draft Royal Decree sets out the requirements for the authorisation of Milk Control Bodies and the basic regulations for the coordination and operation in Spain of the control of milk yield in bovine, ovine and caprine species, for the purpose of determining the genetic value and merits or other capacities of breeding stock, within the framework of the approved breeding programme for each breed and in accordance with the requirements established in Chapter V of Regulation (EU) 2016/1012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2016 and Royal Decree 45/2019 of 8 February 2019.

The content of this Royal Decree modernises the regulation provided for in Royal Decree 368/2005 of 8 April 2005 regulating the official control of milk yield for genetic evaluation in bovine, ovine and caprine species, which it repeals and replaces.
The content of the draft contains the requirements for authorisation and operation of Milk Control Bodies, the new options for the development of milk control by farmers directly in application of ICAR B and C methods. The coordination structures and all regulations related to the territorialisation of funds and the granting of subsidies are updated.
