Single-use plastic cups and single-use plastic packaging of food for consumption on site and to take away.

Decree of the Flemish Government amending the Decree of the Flemish Government of 17 February 2012 establishing the Flemish Regulations on the sustainable management of material cycles and waste.

The amending Decree prohibits, in Article 6, the use of disposable containers at events from 15 June 2023 with the exception of PET bottles and cans if the event organiser provides a system ensuring that at least 95 % of those single-use containers are collected separately for recycling. This exception will expire from 1 January 2025.

Article 6 further provides for an additional derogation under which the use of single-use containers is still possible if there is insufficient capacity for reusable containers and/or for washing-up facilities.
The amending Decree also contains, in Article 7, an elaboration of the return system for reusable containers and reusable catering equipment.
