Bill to amend the Gambling Act (2018:1138)

The Act amending the Gambling Act contains measures to ensure a healthy and safe gambling market. The proposed amendments include more measures to exclude from the Swedish gambling market games that lack the required licence, including the ability to issue regulations obligating payment service providers to provide information used in processing payments to unlicensed games, and the ability for the Swedish Gambling Authority to purchase online gambling services under a cover identity. Measures are also proposed to counteract the manipulation of outcomes in sport, known as ‘match fixing’. The Bill also proposes increased abilities for licence holders and sport governing bodies to process personal data in the context of preventing match fixing, a power to issue regulations on surveillance procedures to detect and counteract match fixing, and an obligation for licence holders to provide, at the request of the Swedish Police, all information necessary for investigating offences connected to gambling.
