Proposal for a Regulation amending the Gaming Ordinance (2018:1475)

Sweden notified on 31 January 2022 a proposal for an Act amending the Gaming Act (2018:1138), registration number 2022/58/S. The Ordinance amending the Gaming Ordinance contains additional provisions to the Gaming Act. The Gaming Ordinance follows the structure of the Gaming Act and contains mainly implementing provisions for the Gaming Authority that specify the Act’s regulations.

The regulation at issue in the main proceedings lays down, inter alia, detailed rules on a loss limit for gaming machines located in places other than a casino, on authorisations to the gaming authority and on fees andsupervision.

A proposal containing proposals for amendments to the Gaming Act and other necessary legislative proposals has been submitted to the Riksdag for consideration on 17 May 2022. The Regulation amending the Gaming Regulation is proposed in respect of fees arising from the proposed authorisation requirement for gaming software to enter into force on 1 March 2023 and otherwise on 1 January 2023.
