ROYAL DECREE XXXX/2022 OF XXXX ESTABLISHING THE FRAMEWORK FOR ACTION FOR THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS IN LIVESTOCK SPECIES

The draft consists of six articles, a single additional provision, three final provisions and two annexes, which regulate:

Article 1. Subject matter and scope: Establishing national measures to promote the sustainable use of antibiotics in the field of livestock species.
Article 2. Definitions: The definitions to be applied for the purposes of the Royal Decree are laid down.
Article 3. Calculation of the usual and quarterly consumption per farm and of the national benchmark in PRESVET.
Article 4. Controls and actions on the basis of results.
Article 5. Attribution to the holder of responsibility for fulfilling and maintaining the obligations and measures provided for in the draft.
Article 6. Sanctions regime.
Single additional provision. No increase in expenditure.
First final provision. Attribution of powers.
Second final provision. Power to amend.
Third final provision. Entry into force.

The draft is completed by two annexes:
Annex I contains small farms excluded from the scope in accordance with Article 1.2.
Annex II contains the parameters to be considered for the calculation of reference units: The calculation of the number of animals according to species and zootechnical classification, and the estimated average weight at the time of treatment per animal according to species and animal category for the calculation of reference units.
