This draft Royal Decree amends the share of sustainable biofuels in petroleum products marketed in Belgium.

The Draft Royal Decree amending the Articles 3 and 4 of the Royal Decree of 4 May 2018 establishing the minimum nominal volumes of sustainable biofuels to be contained in the volumes of fuels released annually for consumption

The draft Royal Decree, submitted for notification, repeals the Article 3, paragraph 1 and 2.
The draft Royal Decree foresees an increase in the share of sustainable biofuels in diesel and petrol from 9.55 % to 10.2 % (energy value) from 1 January 2022.

The share for the calendar year 2021 is set at 9,55 % (energy value).
The draft Royal Decree also foresees that the share of sustainable biofuels in diesel and petrol produced from feedstocks listed in the Annex IV, Part A of the Royal Decree of 16 July 2014 will be increased from 0.1 % to 0.11 % (energy value).
In the draft Royal Decree, the share of the double counting of the contribution of sustainable biofuels in diesel and petrol produced from feedstock in the Annex IV of the Royal Decree of 16 July 2014 is increased from 0.6 % nar 0.95 % (energy value).
In the draft Royal Decree, a sentence is added: the above-mentioned share of double counting also applies to the sub-objectives set out in the paragraph 1 of the Article 4.
The draft Royal Decree also states that, from 1 January 2023, biofuels produced from palm and soya oil, including other products derived directly or indirectly from the oil palm or from soya, can no longer contribute to achieving the blending volume referred to in the Article 7, paragraph 1 of the Law of 17 July 2013 and the sub-objectives set out in the Articles 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Article 4.
