The regulations govern the obligation to provide information on unit prices for relevant fuels at filling stations

The Swedish Consumer Agency’s regulations on unit prices for alternative fuels (KOVFS 2021:XX)

Pursuant to Article 7(3) of Directive 2014/94/EU, where appropriate and in particular for natural gas and hydrogen, when fuel prices are displayed at a filling station, a comparison between the relevant unit prices shall be displayed for information purposes.

By virtue of § 10 of the Ordinance (2016:917) on requirements for installations for alternative fuels, the Swedish Consumer Agency is proposing to issue regulations on the obligation to provide information on unit prices for relevant fuels at filling stations. These regulations are intended to transpose the Directive’s requirements into Swedish law.
Under the draft regulation, information on national average prices for fossil and alternative fuels must be provided at manned filling stations. The aim is to make it easier for the consumer to compare relative fuel costs.
The proposal is for the information to be presented in table form, with unit prices for each fuel type being shown separately in a downward direction. The information must be provided at the filling station near the pump, by the entrance to the filling station shop or in the filling station shop. The information must be clearly visible and must not be misleading or confusing to consumers.
A mutual recognition clause is not deemed necessary.
