Installation requirements and requirements for the conversion or substantial repair of the following types of lifts etc. already installed in a building or in a facility etc.:

1) Passenger lifts and passenger/goods lifts that are not covered by the Lifts Directive.
2) Lifting platforms for passenger transport that are covered by neither the Machinery Directive nor the Lifts Directive.
3) Paternoster lifts.
4) Goods lifts not covered by the Machinery Directive and equipped with controls which cannot be used by a person in the carrier and provided that: (a) the load is 100 kg or more; or (b) the access opening height is 1 m or more.
5) Stair lifts that are not covered by the Machinery Directive.
6) Escalators and moving sidewalks not covered by the Machinery Directive.
The following types of lifts and ancillary equipment are not covered:
1) Cable installations, including cable railways, for public or non-public passenger transport.
2) Lifts that are specially designed and built for military or police purposes.
3) Small goods lifts with a maximum load of less than 100 kg and an access opening height of less than 1 m.
4) Lifts in mine shafts.
5) Lifts and lifting platforms to lift performers during artistic performances.
6) Lifting equipment installed in means of transport.
7) Lifting equipment belonging to a machine or structure intended solely for access to the operating point or for the repair and maintenance of the machinery or structure.
8) Rack railways.
9) Construction site lifts.
10) Stair lifts for goods transport only.

Statutory Order on installation requirements for existing lifts etc. that are not CE-marked

The Statutory Order amends the existing rules on openings in the landing and carrier doors of lifts and on shaft walls, so that uniform rules apply.

In addition, some linguistic adjustments are made and definitions of glass are added.
Furthermore, the Statutory Order maintains the other current regulations for installed lifts etc.
