The envisaged Ministerial Decree lays down provisions for the drift reduction agents or measures recognised in Belgium as referred to in Article 9(4) of the Royal Decree of 19 March 2013 on achieving the sustainable use of plant protection products and adjuvants.

Ministerial Decree laying down drift reduction agents or measures

Article 9(4) of the Royal Decree of 19 March 2013 on achieving the sustainable use of plant protection products and adjuvants stipulates that drift reduction agents or measures may be used to reduce buffer zones and that the Minister may determine which ones are eligible for this purpose.

This draft Ministerial Decree includes the adoption of recognised drift reduction agents or measures. The Service Plant Protection Products and Fertilizers of the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment has for several years been publishing a list of drift reduction agents and measures that limit the drift of spray mist from plant protection products (available at https://fytoweb.be/nl/handleiding/gewasbescherming/bescherming-van-het-oppervlaktewater-bij-het-gebruik-van). However, this list does not currently have a legal basis, which makes it impossible to monitor the use of approved agents or measures. In order to give this list a legal basis, this Ministerial Decree was drawn up in which this list has been included as an annex.

Keywords: plant protection products; drift reduction; drift.
