The Swedish Energy Agency’s regulations on the obligation to provide consumers with environmental information on fuel (STEMFS 2020:xx)

The fact that environmental information on the climate impact, raw materials and origin of fuel is to be provided to consumers is regulated in the Fuel Act and the Fuel Ordinance (2007:346). The Fuel Ordinance has been previously notified under Notification No 2019/337/S.

The proposal now being notified involves regulation of how environmental information for consumers is to be designed, see the proposed rule and annex for visualisation. The proposed rule means that information on fuel is to be provided at product level, i.e. at the level when a fuel is marketed to consumers.

The regulation is made in accordance with the Fuel Ordinance (2011:346), which has been notified under Notification No 2019/337/S. The underlying legal acts are presented there. This regulatory proposal does not entail any other Swedish sectoral rules.
