Methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings, reference Mc 001/2006 (review)

Purpose of the technical regulation: Mc001-Methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings covers many aspects, notably including:

• evaluation and certification of the energy performance of various categories of buildings: family homes/communal residential buildings, office buildings, educational buildings, hospitals/crèches/clinics, hotels and restaurants, sports buildings and buildings used for wholesale and retail trading, including new and existing units within them;

• energy auditing of buildings that are to receive thermal/energy upgrades;

• establishment of minimum performance requirements for construction elements in buildings, including in buildings with almost zero energy consumption;

• definition of the usual measures that may be taken to increase the energy performance of buildings/building units and establishment of a means of quantifying the costs associated with these measures;

• presentation of measures/packages/measure options for each of the various categories of buildings analysed, which should lead to the construction of buildings whose energy consumption is almost zero.

Scope of the above technical regulation:

• evaluation and certification of the energy performance of new and existing buildings, including for buildings whose energy consumption is almost zero;

• thermal and energy analysis, and writing up of the corresponding energy audit, of buildings that are to receive thermal/energy upgrades.
