Ultra-light aircraft and gyroplanes with a maximum take-off mass (MTOM) of 472.5 kg to 600 kg

Ordinance amending the Landing Area Noise Protection Ordinance

(in the version published on 5 January 1999 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 35), last amended by Article 5 of the Ordinance of 29 October 2015 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 1894))

The Landing Area Noise Protection Ordinance currently applies to 45 landing areas. With the inclusion of sport aircraft in movement figures, this number is expected to increase to about 60 landing sites. The original justification for the Landing Area Noise Protection Ordinance stated that, with regard to registration, sport aircraft meet noise limits below the comparable limit values for aeroplanes assessed under the Convention of 7 December 1956 on International Civil Aviation (ICAO), Annex 16, Chapter 6 and Chapter 10, and therefore should be exempted from the time restrictions. For ultralight aircraft with a maximum take-off mass (MTOM) up to 472.5 kg, this will continue to apply mutatis mutandis, since the limit for registration here corresponds to the limit value for the fulfilling the increased sound restriction.
