The interface specification (SSB) regulates the basic requirements for radio equipment for sound broadcasting transmitters in the long, medium and short-wave band in accordance with § 4(2) of the Act concerning the making available on the market of radio equipment (Radio Equipment Act [Funkanlagengesetz - FuAG]).

This interface specification replaces SSB RU 001, April 2006 edition, notified under No 2006/0320/D.
