Sprayers (devices used to apply plant protection products)

Royal Decree amending the Royal Decree of 13 March 2011 on the mandatory inspection of sprayers and amending the Royal Decree of 10 November 2005 on the payments referred to in Article 5 of the Law of 9 December 2004 on the financing of the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain.

Devices used to apply plant protection products must undergo a technical inspection every three years. These inspections are regulated by the Royal Decree of 13 March 2011 on the mandatory inspection of sprayers and amending the Royal Decree of 10 November 2005 on the payments referred to in Article 5 of the Law of 9 December 2004 on the financing of the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain. This Decree also transposes Article 8 of Directive 2009/128/EC establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides.

The draft Decree adapts the aforementioned Royal Decree in order to take account of changes in the range of sprayers and the practical difficulties experienced by the inspection authorities. The main adaptations made relate to the technical requirements for inspections.
