The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) proposes amendments covering four categories of power supply and charging equipment as part of an initiative to regroup related products and present the applicable regulatory requirements in a clearer and more comprehensive manner. The principal amendments are the expansion of scope of battery chargers (to include those converting DC to DC) and the adoption of an updated version of the applicable inspection standard for other static converters in order to enhance product safety and protect consumers' rights and interests. For the remaining products, the applicable inspection standards and conformity assessment procedures will remain largely unchanged.
