This mandatory standard is a revision of the Thai Agricultural Standard (TAS) 1004–2014: Code of Practice for Sulphur Dioxide Fumigation of Fresh Fruits.
The standard covers requirements related to establishment, training and competency of personnel, waste management, control of operation, documentation and records. The objectives are to ensure that fresh fruits fumigated with sulfur dioxide are safe for consumption, and are of appropriate product quality, and that the fumigation process does not adversely affect the environment.
This Thai Agricultural Standard does not cover the fumigation of fresh fruits with sulfur dioxide other than in fumigation chamber.
The revised standard includes amendments to the following key aspects:
· Revision of the scope of the standard to establish the code of practice for sulfur dioxide fumigation of fresh fruits intended for export;
· Revision of requirements for establishment, training and competency of personnel, control of operation, documentation and records;
· Addition of requirements regarding monitoring of the operation;
· Addition of clearer requirements for receiving and preparation of fresh fruit raw materials;
· Revision of requirements for documentation and records, requiring records to be maintained at all stages of the production process to support production improvement and enable traceability in case of product issues.
