The aim of the notified Regulation is to elaborate on the provisions set out in Law No. 32159, "Law to control the consumption of products containing tobacco, nicotine, or tobacco or nicotine substitutes, for the protection of life and health". The Regulation seeks to protect life and guarantee the right to health for individuals, families and communities, through the implementation of provisions relating to restrictions and prohibitions on the advertising, marketing and consumption of products containing tobacco, nicotine, and tobacco and nicotine substitutes; monitoring and oversight; and educational measures and information that raise awareness of the health, social, environmental and economic impacts of consuming these products.
