The notified draft Mexican Official Standard seeks to establish safety provisions governing certain classes of hazardous substances or materials (hazardous goods), duly packaged/packed in excepted quantities for their transportation and/or products for the final consumer or for sale to the public, made from any hazardous substance or material, which may be transported in units other than those for specialized cargo for transporting hazardous materials.

Road transporters using general communication routes to transport certain classes of hazardous substances or materials (dangerous goods) and products for the final consumer or for sale to the public, duly packaged/packed in excepted quantities and small quantities, shall be exempted, respectively, from the requirement to obtain the permit referred to in Article 5, in accordance with Article 48.2 of the Regulations on Land Transport of Hazardous Materials and Waste.
