Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 760, dealing with edible sweet spreads, to be replaced with SI 760 part 1 in all aspects referring to peanut butter. This draft standard adopts the American Code of Federal Regulations CFR Title 21, Volume 2, Chapter 1, Subchapter B, part 164 - Tree nut and peanut products, sec. 164.150 Peanut butter (4-1-19 Edition), with a few changes that appear in the standard's Hebrew section.

This standard significantly differs from the old standard and include the following significant changes: • Adds a new paragraph (f) dealing with contaminants; • Adds a new paragraph (g) dealing with requirements and microbiological test methods.

Sweet edible spreads, other than peanut butter, will be covered in the future SI 760 part 2 and will be notified separately when the revision will be announced and open to comments.

Both the old standard (SI 760) and the new revised standard (SI 760 part 1) will apply for a period of at least two years from the entry into force of the new standard. During this time, products may be tested according to the old or the newly revised standards.

All sections of this new draft standard will be declared mandatory.
