Washing machines and household washer-dryers

Draft Commission Regulation laying down ecodesign requirements for household washing machines and household washer-dryers pursuant to Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, amending Commission Regulation (EC) No 1275/2008 and repealing Commission Regulation (EU) No 1015/2010 (and its accompanying annexes) (8 pages + Annex 24 pages, in English)

This draft Commission Regulation covers products designed for washing, and for combined washing and drying of household laundry to be placed on the EU market. The draft regulation lays down minimum energy performance requirements, in particular on maximum power demand in active mode and for the low power modes of household washing machines and household washer-dryers; appropriate requirements contributing to circular economy objectives in particular, requirements on resource efficiency including availability of necessary spare parts and maximum delivery time thereof, access to repair and maintenance information, information requirements for refrigerant gases, requirements for disassembly for the purpose of repair and for material recovery and recycling; functional requirements, in particular washing performance and remaining moisture content, water consumption and information requirements. In accordance with the Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, household washing machines and household washer-dryersnot meeting these requirements will not be allowed to be placed on the EU market. The draft Regulation is based on the findings of technical, environmental and economic studies and takes into account the opinions of the different stakeholders.
