Electric motors and variable speed drives

Draft Commission Regulation laying down ecodesign requirements for electric motors and variable speed drives pursuant to Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and repealing Commission Regulation (EC) No 640/2009 (and its accompanying annexes) (10 pages + Annex 13 pages, in English)

This draft Commission Regulation sets minimum energy performance for electric motors and variable speed drives, as there exists a cost-effective potential to limit their energy consumption. In accordance with Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, products not meeting these requirements will not be allowed to be placed on the EU market. The draft Regulation is based on the findings of a technical, environmental and economic study, which has been carried out with stakeholders. The draft Regulation repeals Regulation (EC) No 640/2009 with regard to ecodesign requirements for electric motors.
