The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by household cooking utensils for use on hobs, stoves or hotplates, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting human safety and preventing deceptive practices.

It applies to the following products:

Household cooking utensils for use on hobs, stoves or hotplates. It applies to all cooking utensils, regardless of the material they are made of or the manufacturing method used. It also applies to cooking utensils for use inside the oven.

The Technical Regulation does not apply to:

Articles of glass, ceramic or glass-ceramic, pressure cookers, kettles and coffee makers.

Household cooking utensils for use on hobs, stoves or hotplates, which contain pewter alloys with a lead content exceeding 0.05%.
