The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by absorbent paper products, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of preventing deceptive practices.

It applies to the following products:

1.    Toilet paper;

2.    Paper serviettes.

It does not apply to:

1.    Handkerchiefs, cleansing tissues and towels;

2.    Tablecloths;

3.    Bed sheets and similar household, sanitary or hospital articles; 

4.    Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, of paper pulp, paper, cellulose wadding or webs of cellulose fibres.
