The notified Ecuadorian Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by ceramic tableware intended to come into contact with food, prior to the marketing of domestic and imported products, with the aim of protecting human health and safety, and preventing deceptive practices.

It applies to the following products: Glass ceramic, semi-glass ceramic and non-glass ceramic tableware intended to be in contact with food.

It does not apply to:

·         Ceramic products classed as decorations or ornaments and handicrafts; 

·        Ceramic tableware classed as toys, which must comply with Ecuadorian Technical Regulation RTE INEN No. 089 "Toy safety", which is currently in force.
