8423.81.00.00: Weighing machinery (excluding balances of a sensitivity of 5 cg or better), including weight operated counting or checking machines; weighing machine weights of all kinds.

Other weighing machinery having a maximum weighing capacity not exceeding 30 kg. Price computing balances (used in shops, supermarkets and butchers), with or without a printer, weight-only, counting, for points of sale (weight-only balances connected to a computer for price calculation) with a scale division not less than 0.1 g (generally Class III equipment, although it may also include some Class II configurations).

8423.82.90.00: Weighing machinery (excluding balances of a sensitivity of 5 cg or better), including weight operated counting or checking machines; weighing machine weights of all kinds.

Other weighing machinery: Having a maximum weighing capacity exceeding 30 kg but not exceeding 5,000 kg. Hanging and platform scales, with a capacity of between 30 and 5,000 kg. Class III.

8423.82.10.00: Weighing machinery (excluding balances of a sensitivity of 5 cg or better), including weight operated counting or checking machines; weighing machine weights of all kinds.

Other weighing machinery: Having a maximum weighing capacity exceeding 30 kg but not exceeding 5,000 kg: Scales between 30 and 5,000 kg for weighing vehicles.

8423.89.10.00: Weighing machinery (excluding balances of a sensitivity of 5 cg or better), including weight operated counting or checking machines; weighing machine weights of all kinds.

Other weighing machinery: Other: Scales for weighing vehicles of more than 5,000 kg. 9016.00.12.00: Balances of a sensitivity of 5 cg or better, with or without weights. Electronic balances. Balances with a scale division not exceeding 0.05 g. Class II and Class I equipment.

The purpose of the notified Metrological Technical Regulation is to prevent consumers and users in general from being misled, by guaranteeing the quality of the measurements provided by non-automatic weighing instruments. To fulfil this objective, the notified Regulation establishes the technical, metrological and administrative requirements to be met by non-automatic weighing instruments; lays down the conformity assessment procedure; outlines the obligations for manufacturers, importers and marketers; and specifies the metrological verification procedure for instruments of this type that are used in activities subject to metrological control.
