This standard specifies the classification, marking, technical requirements, inspection rules and identification of non-powered air-purifying gas and vapor respirators. This standard applies to non-powered air-purifying gas and vapor respirators based on the principle of self-priming filtration. This standard does not apply to respiratory protective equipment used in an anoxic environment, underwater operation, escape and fire hot areas.
