1.1. The notified Standard establishes the requirements to be met by sawn or planed wood of hardwood species, intended for structural use and classified visually.

1.2. The Standard may be applied to any wood of hardwood species used for structural purposes, regardless of its moisture content. The most efficient use, however, is achieved with a moisture content equivalent to the equilibrium moisture of the place of use. The use of green wood is justified only for technical service reasons or because of the difficulties involved in the drying process for certain wood species.
