1.1. The notified Standard establishes the following methods for directly determining the moisture content of wood: the oven-drying method and the distillation method. The method for determining the moisture content of wood using a wood moisture meter is described in Chilean Standard (NCh) No. 2827.

1.2 The Standard includes, for information purposes, the determination of moisture content using a microwave oven (see Annex B).

1.3 The Standard applies to sawn wood and laminated wood. It does not apply to wood panels.
