Dairy produce, for animal and human consumption

The notified draft measure establishes health requirements governing the importation into Chile of dairy produce, for animal and human consumption:

1.    The requirements are applicable to all dairy produce, except for that listed in Resolution No. 3.081/2006 or the Resolution replacing it;

2.    Health status favourably assessed by Chile regarding Rift Valley fever and lumpy skin disease or product subjected to pasteurization or another mitigation treatment;

3.    Requirements for establishments of origin, including:

-         The establishment in which the dairy produce is processed must be authorized by the competent health authority of the country of origin and must be authorized by SAG, and must have a properly implemented traceability programme;

-         Additionally, in the case of products for animal feed, the provisions of Resolution No. 5.025/2009, which establishes the scope of the quality assurance programme for factories or manufacturers producing foodstuffs and supplements for animals and for factories producing ingredients of animal origin for animal feed, must be fulfilled;

4.    Health requirements for the establishments of origin of the raw material, in relation to foot-and-mouth disease, freedom from brucellosis (Brucella spp.) and tuberculosis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) or pasteurized or subjected to another mitigation treatment;

5.    Specific heat treatments for milk or maturation treatments for milk used to manufacture dairy produce, as appropriate. In addition, maintaining the health and safety conditions of the treated product;

6.    Products for animal feed must comply with the requirements established in Resolution No. 7.885/2017, which establishes maximum levels of contaminants in inputs for animal feed;

7.    Requirements for the packaging to be used and the information it must contain;

8.    Conditions for washing and disinfecting means of transport, verified by the competent authority;

9.    On certification that complies with the requirements indicated in the draft Resolution and in the language of the country of origin and destination.
