The notified text establishes phytosanitary requirements for the importation into Chile of fresh Hass avocado pears (Persea americana), produced in Colombia based on a systems approach, which include the following:

1.    To enter the country, consignments must be covered by an official phytosanitary certificate issued by the Colombian plant health authority;

2.    Terms are defined to facilitate the understanding of the programme for the importation of fresh Hass avocado pears (Persea americana) from Colombia to Chile;

3.    Prior to commencement of exportation to Chile, the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) will conduct a technical verification of the production and official certification programme, carried out by the ICA and related to the Work plan for the importation into Chile of fresh Hass avocado pears (Persea americana) for consumption, produced in Colombia, based on a risk-mitigation systems approach;

4.    Consignments must come from production and packing facilities registered by the Colombian NPPO and authorized by the ICA through the assignment of unique identification codes, based on the guidelines of its certification programme.
