Clothes washer-dryers for household use

The notified protocol establishes the efficiency certification procedure for electric clothes washer-dryers for household use, in accordance with the scope and field of application of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standard 62512:2012.

Although this Standard is based on IEC 61121 on tumble dryers and IEC 60456 on clothes washers, it specifies the conditions needed to test the combined function of washing and drying, as well as the test methods for the testing of household combined washer-dryers in their function to wash and dry textiles. This International Standard does not apply for testing individual washing or drying functions.

The object is to state and define the principal performance characteristics of household electric washer-dryers of interest to users and to describe standard methods for measuring these characteristics.

It also applies to:

1.- Washer-dryers for communal use in blocks of flats or in launderettes.

2.- Built-in washer-dryers.

3.- Washer-dryers with more than one drum.

It does not apply to:

1.- Washer-dryers for commercial laundries.
