The Common Market Group has amended Common Market Group Resolution No. 77/94 on "Definitions Relating to Alcoholic Beverages (Other Than Fermented)", which was incorporated into Chapter XIV, "Spirituous Beverages, Alcohols, Distilled Alcoholic Beverages and Liqueurs", of the Argentine Food Code pursuant to Resolution No. 110/95 of the former Ministry of Health and Social Action, as follows:

(a)     Common Market Group Resolution No. 46/17 repeals point 1, on molasses spirit or "cachaza", and point 2, on sugar cane spirit or "caninha", of Item XVIII, "Alcoholic Beverages Derived from Sugar Cane", of the annex to Common Market Group Resolution No. 77/94;

The National Food Commission is handling the incorporation of both Resolutions into the Argentine Food Code. In light of what was resolved by the Common Market Group with respect to point (a) above, the National Food Commission has submitted for public consultation the restoration of definitions under point 1, on molasses spirit or "cachaza", and point 2, on sugar cane spirit or "caninha", of Article 1115 of the Argentine Food Code.
