Minimum safety measures concerning electrical installations in Belgium in accordance with the General Regulations on Electrical Installations (RGIE) introduced by the Royal Decree of 8 September 2019 establishing Books 1, 2 and 3

Draft royal decree amending certain provisions of Parts 4 and 6 of Book 1 introduced by the Royal Decree of 8 September 2019 establishing Books 1, 2 and 3 of the General Regulations on Electrical Installations

The draft royal decree amends certain provisions of Book 1 of the RGIE, primarily in Parts 4 and 6, which deals with low-voltage and extra-low-voltage electrical installations. This concerns the removal of the requirement to seal residual current devices (RCDs) installed at the origin of a domestic installation (e.g., a dwelling) during an inspection carried out by an accredited body (pre-use, periodic, etc.).

The following amendments are made to Book 1:
- The third paragraph of Subsection 4.2.4.3. (b) is deleted;
- Point b.6 of Subsection 6.4.6.4 is replaced;
- The second paragraph of Point b.6 of Subsection 6.5.7.2 is replaced.
The royal decree enters into force on the first day of the second month following its publication in the Belgian Official Gazette and is implemented by the Minister responsible for Energy
