Model Guideline on building authority requirements for schools (Model School Building Guideline – MSchulbauR) – Version as of 09.09.2025

The notified legislation is a further development of the previous version from 2009 (see 2009/0450/D). The scope of application includes general and vocational schools in which children and young people are taught. As before, educational institutions for adults do not fall within the scope of the Model School Building Guideline. The notified legislation specifies building control requirements for components, escape routes, stairs, railings and barriers, smoke extraction, lightning protection systems, safety lighting, alarm systems and internal fire alarm systems, emergency power supply and fire brigade plans in schools in accordance with the scope of application, with the protection goal of preventive fire protection and hazard prevention.
