Guidelines for oversized and heavy transport (Richtlinien für Großraum- und Schwertransporte – RGST 2026)

The guidelines serve to ensure the swift and efficient processing of the increasing number of permit and licensing processes for the performance of oversized and heavy transport operations (‘GST’ [Großraum- und/oder Schwertransporte]). They describe the procedure for submitting applications, the procedure for drawing up advisory opinions and the preparation of administrative rulings. In this context, requirements for digital driver assistance systems for the performance of oversized and heavy transport operations (Section 3.1) as well as requirements for the equipping of escort vehicles with interchangeable traffic sign systems (Section 3.2) are also set out.
