Requirements for ensuring fire safety in the construction and use of operating facilities, warehouses, bottling and filling areas, filling stations, production areas using alcohol, alcohol warehouses, and areas used for storing flammable liquids.

Decree of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic on fire safety when using flammable liquids

The Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic has decided to remove the fire safety requirements for flammable liquids with a flash point above 60°C (so-called liquid flammable substances) with the exception of gas oils, diesel and light heating oils with a flash point between ≥ 55°C and ≤ 75°C in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which classifies flammable liquids into three categories. The new classification of flammable liquids also entails a change in the labelling of packaging containing flammable liquids. According to the decree on flammable liquids, packaging must be labelled with the indication FLAMMABLE LIQUID specifying the hazard class. Under the Regulation, hazard statements, precautionary statements and pictograms must be used in accordance with the United Nations Globally Harmonised System. The draft Decree also addresses fire safety requirements for production areas using alcohol and alcohol warehouses, on-site pipeline distribution systems for flammable liquids, filling stations (except for specifying the separation distance from the dispenser), mobile filling stations, the dispensing of alternative fuels at filling stations, and premises with a source of electrical energy provided by an internal combustion engine running on liquid fuels.
