Sewage sludge

Amendment of Regulation No 29 of the Minister of the Environment of 31 July 2019 on the quality standards and requirements for the use of sewage sludge in the creation of green areas, recultivation and agriculture

The main change is to introduce a sludge stabilisation indicator for sludge resulting from the production and processing of pulp, paper and cardboard. A point is added to the Regulation according to which the sludge resulting from the production and processing of pulp, paper and cardboard shall be considered stabilised if the oxygen demand is less than 25 mg O2/g dry matter after a 96-hour measurement period.

On the basis of the above, the provisions already in force in the Regulation are specified and it is added that the indicator for stabilising the sludge resulting from the production and processing of pulp, paper and cardboard should also be used to assess the quality of aerobically stabilised sludge, including composted sludge; and the oxygen demand indicator for sludge resulting from the production and processing of pulp, paper and cardboard does not apply in the case of liming.
