Movement of former stray, feral, lost, abandoned or confiscated dogs, cats or ferrets.

Regulation [date and No] amending the Terrestrial Animal Movement Regulation, the Pet Animal Regulation and the Animal Import Regulation to add supplementary national requirements regarding movement of former stray, feral, lost, abandoned or confiscated dogs, cats or ferrets

Establishment of supplementary national requirements regarding the movement of former stray, feral, lost, abandoned or confiscated dogs, cats or ferrets, and the keeping of them in animal shelters in Norway.

The requirements states that these animals must have been kept in an animal shelter for 6 months before movement, without being in contact with other kept animals of a lower health status or animals that have been admitted to the animal shelter during this period. Alternatively these animals must have been subject to a rabies antibody titration test carried out on a sample collected at least 30 days after the date of vaccination and not less than three months before for movement. However, this does not apply to dogs, cats or ferrest that are moved to an approved animal shelter in Norway. When keeping these animals in animal shelters in Norway, the operaters shall ensure that the design and placement of the isolation unit prevent the spread of infection. Furthermore, the operator shall report any sign of disease in these animals.
