ELOT TS 1501-08-05-02-02 Waterstops for concrete joints
The purpose of this Technical Specification is to define the requirements for the characteristics and the method of application of waterstops for construction joints made of injected concrete which come into direct contact with water (tanks, channels, etc.) or are adjacent to the ground or a backfill (waterstops, joint tapes).
The waterstops are installed to ensure the tightness of the expansion/contraction joints of concrete elements and also installed in the construction joints.
They can be distinguished as follows:
– with regard to their material: elastomeric (from natural or artificial rubber) and thermoplastic (from PVC, PE, etc.), with or without metal reinforcements and are available in a wide variety of dimensions and shapes (cross-sections)
– with regard to their positioning: internal type (within the concrete cross-section) and external type (on the surface of the concrete element)
This Technical Specification does not include metallic sealing strips for joints which are the subject of ELOT TS 1501-13-02-08-03 “Waterproofing of upstream slab joints of concrete faced rockfill dams (CFRD) with metallic strips” nor does it include bentonite sealing strips.
