The following shall be affected by the draft:

– Passenger ships of less than 24 metres in length operating domestic services
– Other passenger ships operating domestic services not covered by Directive 2009/45/EC of the European
Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 2009 on safety rules and standards for passenger ships, as last amended by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/411 of 19 November 2019, such as ships constructed from materials other than steel or equivalent.

Order on construction and equipment etc. of ships, small passenger ships etc. operating domestic services

The draft provides that also passenger ships less than 24 metres in length operating domestic services and other passenger ships operating domestic services not covered by Directive 2009/45/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 2009 on safety rules and standards for passenger ships, as last amended by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/411 of 19 November 2019, such as ships constructed in materials other than steel or equivalent, must comply with Directive 2009/45/EC, with the exceptions provided for in section 2(2-5).
